CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is just one of several different molecules known as Cannabinoids found in the Hemp plant. CBD can act as a neurotransmitter and is also known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
A powerful plant extract, CBD has been used medicinally for thousands of years and is one of at least 113 Cannabinoids extracted from a proprietary strain of the hemp plant (not to be confused with the plant used to produce cannabis (marijuana)).
Many leading doctors, scientists, and experts in the field believe that combining CBD with the full spectrum of other naturally occurring cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids found in this special strain of hemp, may offer a range of measurable health benefits never seen in the pharmaceutical, food, or dietary supplement industries.
CBD oil is a natural essential oil which is extracted from the flowers and leaves of the cannabis plant. It is used by people all over the world as a dietary supplement and for a variety of therapeutic purposes.
Cannabinoids are active compounds produced by all cannabis plants. They account for most of the health benefits of cannabis. Cannabinoids found in plants are technically called phytocannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids can mimic neurotransmitters that we call endocannabinoids, which are produced naturally by our bodies.
CBD can act as a neurotransmitter. Neurotransmitters help to regulate bodily systems at a cellular level. CBD has been shown to have effects on a wide array of systems in the human body, such as the immune system, the nervous system, the endocrine system, the cardiovascular system, the digestive system, the heart, liver, kidneys, the epidermis and others. CBD is also known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Although CBD is used as a component in a drug known as Epidiolex, which is used to treat seizure disorders, CBD oil is not considered to be a drug. Instead, it is a dietary supplement. Also, CBD does not cause a high like marijuana.
Hemp seed oil is distinct from CBD oil. While CBD is produced by extracting the essential oils from the cannabis plant’s flowers, hemp seed oil is produced by pressing the plant’s seeds. Hemp oil is similar to other seed oils such as corn oil and sesame oil. Hemp oil does not contain cannabinoids such as CBD.

CBD oil is used by many people to treat a variety of conditions. However, it has not been approved by the FDA in the treatment of any conditions aside from particular seizure disorders. Nonetheless, there have been numerous studies which suggest that CBD may be an effective therapy for a wide range of health issues, and many U.S. states have approved the use of CBD to treat many of these ailments. Consult with a qualified medical professional to determine if your condition is treatable with CBD.

Full Spectrum CBD oil, such as that used in Fox River Oils products, contains a variety of cannabinoids and terpenes, as well as other beneficial compounds. Each of the compounds has particular effects on the human body. Because terpenes can affect how the body responds to cannabinoids, the combined effect is often greater than the sum of the individual effects. The overall effect produced is known as the entourage effect. Non-full spectrum products do not have the benefit of the entourage effect and are therefore not recommended.
